About the Artist
Editor and digital artist, Maddy Gomez’s unique approach to film explores personal identity by bringing together beauty and culture. The Spanish-American artist experiments with all sorts of mediums—video art, acrylic paints, and photography—creating a unique blend of euphoric installations and emotional documentaries.
Born in Houston and raised in Dallas, Texas, Maddy takes pride in her Latin roots where she hopes to rewrite the struggle of being a Mexican woman in STEM. Her passion for digital media was kindled by the idea of creating something out of the norm. Gomez comes from a long line of musical Mexican artists, however, the women in the family were never allowed to pursue their artistic dreams so, she decided to change the narrative. Gomez grew up listening to classical Spanish artists such as Plácido Domingo and Joaquín Rodrigo, which motivated her to create art expressing the emotions she felt from these classical pieces.
Maddy unveiled her talent as an editor and digital artist when she was accepted into her first showcase in 2021. With her short film Mariposa, she was awarded the second place prize in the Applied Design category. Since then, she’s taken her talent to the Digital Graffiti Festival where her work “Flor de Sakura” was featured on one of the Alys Beach Butteries. Maddy’s approach to digital media is infused with Latin culture, identity, and explodes with psychedelic thrills.
